This position is part of Novanta Advanced Surgery (AS), which develops devices and accessories that enable doctors to operate using minimally invasive techniques. We produce video management systems, insufflators, medical pumps, and tubing, making diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone.
Your tasks
Summary
The Hardware Technician will play a key role in supporting development activities within our Berlin R&D office. This position is responsible for HW related work activities, including equipment maintenance and compliance with safety and quality standards. The role also involves supporting prototype builds and assisting engineers with testing and troubleshooting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform precise soldering of electronic components (SMD and THT) on PCBs.
- Assemble and crimp cables according to technical specifications.
- Conduct electrical measurements using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
- Support hardware prototyping and testing.
- Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate measurements.
- Document test results, procedures, and anomalies in a clear and structured manner.
- Ensure compliance with ESD protection and lab safety standards.
- Collaborate with HW, FW and System engineers to support development and troubleshooting.
General Tasks
- Adhere strictly to all quality, occupational safety, and environmental standards in daily work.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position requiring strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
- Secondary School or higher in Electronics Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate industrial experience in electronics hardware development, servicing or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of analog, digital, and embedded electronics design principles.
- Strong hands-on skills in electronics prototyping, soldering, and using lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies and signal generators.
- Excellent organizational and analytical abilities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to team efforts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
