As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

• defining the software architecture for the next generations of lithography systems, driving the progress in the semiconductor industry
• finding the best solutions for embedded control systems, considering modularity and sustainability, hardware limitations and performance specifications
• analysing system requirements, negotiating technical requirements and proposing solution options with the team
• proving technical feasibility and guiding the dev-teams during implementation and verification; defining work packages and integration plans
• hands-on creation of prototypes, PoC’s and final software
• communicate with internal and external stakeholders like systems engineers, software developers, project managers/POs and electronics teams
• contributions to our technology roadmap by providing your ideas and supporting innovation

Your profile

• studies in Engineering, Control Systems, Mathematics, Physics or similar - Masters desirable
• you have proven experience as a software developer or architect in a professional software development environment for bare metal controllers, real-time operating systems or similar machine-oriented applications
• you have an excellent understanding of real-time applications like fast embedded control systems
• you can efficiently develop optimum solutions using the latest tools and methods in low level programming
• you can communicate clearly, precisely and with empathy and have a passion to successfully solve complex challenges independently and in a team
• optionally you have experience with VHDL or similar languages
• good English and optionally German language
