Job Summary
As a Senior Test Automation Engineer at Novanta WOM, you lead and deliver end‑to‑end automated test solutions for medical device development and production. You define the automation strategy, convert needs into clear requirements, and build reliable HW/SW test stations at device and component level for verification, validation, and production.
You design, develop, and maintain automated test systems, mainly in LabVIEW and C# for PCB and system tests. You ensure proper documentation, traceability, and compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
You stay technically flexible, choosing the best technologies to improve reliability, maintainability, and cost. You work closely with Infrastructure and ATP teams to ensure aligned architecture, ready environments, tool integration, and smooth CI/CD and data flows.
You define and track automation KPIs (coverage, stability, execution time, defect escape) and drive continuous improvement. You coordinate across hardware, firmware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams.
You work independently, prioritize your own tasks, and escalate only when needed. You support management decisions, challenge constructively with data‑driven alternatives, and mentor others to raise automation maturity and test quality..
- Define and lead a device‑agnostic test automation strategy aligned with architecture and business goals.
- Own the design, development, and validation of automated test systems (LabVIEW, C#, C/C++, PCB, sensors, end‑station machines).
- Write and approve requirements and test specifications; ensure performance, reliability, and traceability.
- Develop and execute test plans and scripts compliant with medical device quality and regulatory standards.
- Define, track, and meet automation KPIs (coverage, stability, execution time, defect escape).
- Select the right technologies; standardize for maintainability and total cost of ownership.
- Drive end‑to‑end delivery: planning, milestones, risks, capacity, and reporting (Azure DevOps, Agile).
- Coordinate across hardware, software, DA, production, and system verification teams.
- Align with Infrastructure and ATP on environments, tools, CI/CD, data flow, and architecture.
- Analyze test results, document findings, and provide actionable quality insights.
- Lead process standardization and waste reduction; ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate clearly and influence stakeholders across teams.
- Work autonomously: set priorities, escalate only when needed, and execute management decisions.
- Challenge decisions constructively using data‑based alternatives and clear trade‑offs.
- Mentor and support colleagues on automation best practices and onboarding.
- Deliver on time without sacrificing quality, with disciplined documentation and change control.
