Senior Software Engineer, Cloud CDN Data Plane

The Cloud CDN team is working with products and infrastructure responsible for a major part of traffic on the global internet. We are designing and operating the control and data plane for the Cloud CDN ensuring the speedy and correct delivery of content from storage and backends to the Internet.

The role entails traditional Software Engineering work on some of our major software components, but also offers the opportunity to work on SRE-style systems integration, monitoring, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for designing and developing new features in Cloud CDN. With such a large system there is no shortage of complex problems to solve or projects to land that mitigate risk, increase performance, and unlock business.
• Build highly efficient solutions for the Cloud products.
• Increase safety and decrease the latency of the system.
• Integrate with other teams across Google and especially integrating with control and data plane.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in networking, load balancing, Content Delivery Networks(CDNs).
• Experience in network protocols and innovative large-scale networking architectures.
• Experience in low latency, secure, and safe control planes serving machines network performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience debugging across the full front-end serving stack and internet video streaming protocols (e.g., HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH)) envoy, or similar HTTPS proxies.
