We are currently looking for an Application Engineer to support the growth of the EMEA original equipment sales of drive systems within the EMEA bicycle markets. Working fully remotely from Germany and preferably from the Aachen area, you will be reporting to the Business Development Manager Mobility EMEA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Developing deep product and program knowledge of Gates bicycle products and applications in order to design drives and develop new products answering to customers needs
Developing and executing testing plans for current, future, and competitive products
Collaborating closely with inside business development managers, partners, customers, and distributors to support the development of strategies, tactics, and products targeting and closing competitive opportunities
Understanding the competitive landscape and building a product pipeline to capture market share
Interacting directly with customers to understand their products, needs, and responding quickly to requests for assistance
Acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields, and ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate the company in the market
Supervisory Responsibilities
Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area.
Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
Designs a complete project, system, component, or process.
Prepares complete project documents.
Designs and conducts experiments, and analyzes and interprets data.

Keys to Success
Requirements and Preferred Skills
5-7 years of overall professional experience including at least 3 years of experience working as an Engineer for a bicycle manufacturer
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Highly proactive, self-starter requiring little to no supervision
Project management skills to follow up on work at specific plants or test sites
Analytical skills to analyze customer data and organize outputs into actionable business plan objectives
Must understand the financial implications of specific actions or commitments that would be offered to support contract business
Strong Presentation and selling skills along with an operational understanding of key initiatives and drivers, and the ability to match these up with Gates capabilities
Must be legally authorized to work in the EU
