Stellenbeschreibung

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is one of Europe’s largest cancer research centers. “Research for a life without cancer" is the mission of our world-class scientists and all our team members.

We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors and search for new cancer prevention strategies. We develop new methods with which tumors can be diagnosed more precisely and cancer patients can be treated more successfully. Every contribution counts – whether in research, administration or infrastructure. This is what makes our daily work so meaningful and exciting.

The Division of B Cell Immunology is seeking for the next possible date a Technical Assistant.

Reference number: 2026-0010

  • B Cell Immunology

To guide the development of novel therapies, the Division of B Cell Immunology studies how antigen-receptor specificity determines the clonal evolution of human B and T cell responses in infectious diseases and cancer. The overarching goal is to gain fundamental insights into the molecular and cellular principles that underlie protective B cell immune responses and to translate our findings into clinical application.

Your Tasks

The Division of B Cell Immunology studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms affecting the quality of immune responses to vaccination for malaria in preclinical models and humans.

The work includes diverse immunological, molecular, cellular, and biochemical assays. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and implement mouse immunizations (this will encompass at least 50% of the work) as well as molecular assessments of the antibody and T cell responses using ELISA, FACS, single-cell sorting, and expression cloning of antigen receptors. You will plan the experiments in close collaboration with other members of the lab and national and international partners and communicate the results to the wider team. Data analysis and visualization using Excel, Prism, and PowerPoint is expected.

Your Profile

We are looking for a flexible, motivated team player with organizational talent, high sense of responsibility, and excellent communication skills who can comfortably work in a diverse, international environment. A completed training as a technical assistant (TA, BTA, MTA, CTA) or an equivalent degree is mandatory. Experience with animal work and FELASA certification are required. We also expect experience in planning, implementing, and analyzing experiments. Experience working with high-throughput assays up to 384-well format is desirable. The candidate should have very good written and spoken English and German skills to be able to communicate confidently in the work environment. Proficiency in MS Office applications and IT skills are expected.
