Our Curricular Affairs unit plays a pivotal role within the Hertie School and is responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating courses and all other credit-bearing activities for the four Master's degrees (Master of Public Policy, Master of International Affairs, Master of Data Science for Public Policy, and Executive Master of Public Administration).

We are hiring a Student Assistant (20 hours/week)

to support the team with multiple tasks related to communication with students and instructors, project coordination, the development and proofing of information resources, quality assurance in the context of teaching materials, collection and input of data on courses and instructors, and other administrative tasks as required by the unit. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning and continuous development of our academic programmes, in the context of a dynamic, international university.  

Your tasks

  • Support students with regular queries concerning the requirements, structure, schedule, and enrolment procedure of curricular activities (courses, master’s thesis, internships, skills workshops). Support is to be provided in person, via email, and via videocall .
  • Support the organisation of Skills Workshops, including liaising with instructors, ordering and coordinating catering, managing registrations, and quality control of classroom logistics.
  • Support with course enrolment and related requests in the Campus Management System.
  • Development and quality control of information resources for students and instructors, including on Sharepoint and the e-learning platform Moodle.
  • Quality management in the context of teaching, particularly course syllabi checking.
  • General course management in the Campus Management System.
  • Liaise with other units on matters concerning programme information, communication, and student and instructor support.
  • Other administrative support activities as needed by the Curricular Affairs unit.

 

Your profile

  • Enrolled as a Master's student at a German university.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly concerning texts and data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written. German skills are a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high intercultural competence. Direct experience in customer service roles is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find and implement solutions independently.
  • A creative mindset and a passion for learning new skills and techniques independently.
  • A strong ability to work reliably and precisely, ensuring the accuracy of your work.
  • An interest in higher education and educational project management.
  • Team spirit and an interest in contributing to the development of a highly diverse and international team.
  • Readiness to begin in April 2026 and availability to work in this position until at least April 2027.
