Your responsibilities

The overall objective of the position is to provide strategic overview in logistics to WHH's operations in South Sudan and ensure and enhance the department's efficiency for seamless implementation. This is to be achieved by developing solutions to diverse and complex logistical challenges that may arise and/or hamper implementation of activities and through collaboration between Head of Operations (HoO) and the Logistics Expert in coordination with various departments both in Country Office (CO) and Project locations. The post holder reports to Head of Operations.

• Provide direction and guidance to the logistics team at the same time ensuring teamwork, staff development, collaboration and coordination among other staff both in the Country Office and the Project locations.
• Ensure proper coordination with the Head of Projects and Area Managers on any logistical issues and challenges in their areas of operations.
• In cooperation with the WHH Head of Operations, provide direct support to and coordination of all logistics throughout South Sudan.
• Effectively synchronize logistics systems in the country and support their implementation and monitoring, in accordance with WHH policies.
• Establish and maintain good contacts with vendors, contractors, UN Logistics Cluster and other NGO peers with regards to logistical matters.
• Ensure timely monthly reporting on fleet and warehousing, working with all the Logistics staff in the Project locations and the Country Office.
• Assist program staff with logistics advice during the drawing up of new project proposals and monitoring/reporting of running projects.
• Ensure high level of warehouse management functions aiming at production of quality reports and documentation.
• Ensure proper asset registration and disposal procedures are being followed and implemented as per specific donor regulations (including WHH's regulations).

Your profile

• Master's degree in logistics, supply chain or any other logistics related degree.
• At least six years' previous work experience in logistics, supply chain or operations
• At least four years' experience working in a conflict/ post conflict context with a large international NGO.
• Experience in South Sudan is an asset.
• Excellent command of supply chain processes: planning, procurement, transport, warehousing, stock management and distribution
• Demonstrated experience producing high-quality logistics reports and managing data in asset, stock or fleet systems.
• Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities
• Knowledge of donors' regulations (EU, BMZ, GFFO, WFP etc.)
• Excellent MS Office skills; expertise in Excel.
• High level of personal and professional integrity.
• Good attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Good understanding of humanitarian principles and context.
• You recognize the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work
• Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe's programme countries
• Fluent in English, Arabic would be an asset.
