Starting from the early days of agentic hype, we have been developing as a 'tiger team' the DeepL Agent internally and dog-fooding now to the full AI company. The DeepL Agent is a general-purpose AI agent designed to autonomously handle a wide range of business tasks through natural language instructions. From building and researching sales account lists, to translating and publishing website content – it's built to streamline the repetitive, time-consuming work you do every day.

Your Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will:

• Design, maintain, and optimize complex distributed systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Act as the Kubernetes administrator for our team, managing and troubleshooting our environments.
• Develop and implement monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability and adherence to defined SLOs.
• Engage in on-call rotations, responding to incidents and contributing to post-mortem analyses.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and solving problems proactively.

Your profile

What you bring to the table

• Proven experience in maintaining and designing complex systems, with a strong foundation in distributed systems and low-level interactions.
• Hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, including a deep understanding of its abstractions and the ability to apply them effectively.
• Professional experience in Python or Go, combined with a solid background in Software Engineering and System Design.
• Demonstrated ability to build and implement monitoring solutions that ensure operational excellence.
• A self-motivated and adaptable mindset, with a knack for problem-solving across various domains.
• Excellent communication skills, allowing you to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You'd get bonus points for

• Experience with public cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with components of our tech stack, including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry, PagerDuty, ArgoCD, FastAPI, Redis, RabbitMQ, and Postgres.
• Previous on-call experience, demonstrating your ability to handle incidents effectively and learn from them.
